ITALIAN DESIGN DAY 2019

Also the Consulate General in Jeddah celebrated the 2019 edition of the Italian Design Day, with two guests of honour: “Design Ambassador” Andrea Boschetti (architect and founder of the international firm Metrogramma, one of the main minds behind the Innovation Design District in Milan) and Mrs. Flora Ribera, Deputy CEO for Mondadori/Mediamond and expert on design communication. On the evening of Wednesday 20 march, the Consulate organized a round table: the two Italian experts presented their experience in urban regeneration projects and confronted their ideas with those of Saudi counterparts, in front of a selected audience of architects, designers, experts and businessmen. Sitting at the round table with Mr. Boschetti and Mrs. Ribera there were: Mr. Lucio Frigo -Italian consultant for the Saudi Ministry of Culture, in charge of the restauration project of Jeddah’s Historic District (Balad)- and the Gazzaz brothers (Abdulrahman and Turki), founders or the Brick-lab studio and in charge of the Saudi Pavillion at the Venice Biennale in 2016. The following day, Mr. Boschetti and Mrs. Ribera held lectures in two distinguished private Jeddah Universities: the University of Business & Technology and the Dar Al Hekma University. In both Universities the audience was mostly composed of female students, who had a lively interaction with their guests from Milan.
