The European House – Ambrosetti, in collaboration with the DGCE, has published the latest issue of “Business Insights from Italy – A Letter to International Investors”.
As usual, the October issue opens with an update on Italy’s macroeconomic outlook, followed by an in-depth analysis of the Public Finance Policy Document (DPFP). This month’s sectoral focus is dedicated to the biomedical and prosthetics industry, an integral part of the medical technology sector and one of the most advanced segments of Italy’s manufacturing and innovation ecosystem.
The sector combines engineering excellence, specialised healthcare expertise and a strong export orientation.
Overall, Italy’s medical technology industry generates approximately €18.5 billion in value, ranking fourth in Europe with a market share of 11.7%. The sector comprises 4,618 companies, including 2,743 manufacturers, and employs over 130,000 people. These figures reflect a dynamic ecosystem in which research, technological innovation and manufacturing capabilities work together to drive growth and support the continued advancement of healthcare.
