On December 1, 2018 has been approved the new Art. 9.1 of the Law no.91/1992 concerning the procedures for the Italian citizenship acquisition.The Art. 9.1 establishes the mandatory requirement of an adequate knowledge of the Italian language, at least B1 level of CEFR (Common EuropeanFramework of Reference for Languages), in order to acquire the Italian citizenship under Art. 5 or Art. 9 of the said Law no. 91/1992, respectively acquisition through marriage or granted by a President’s Decree.
