By decrees of the President of the Republic of 31/03/2025, published in the Official Gazette of 31/03/2025, the date of the abrogative referendums ex art. 75 of the Constitution has been fixed to 8 and 9 JUNE 2025.
Italian citizens living abroad, registered in the electoral lists can vote by mail and will receive the election package at their home adress.

Who can vote abroad?
a) Voters registered with AIRE (Anagrafe degli Italiani Residenti all’Estero), who receive the electoral package directly to their address of residence abroad;
b) Italians temporarily abroad for at least three months, exclusively FOR WORK, STUDY OR MEDICAL TREATMENT, and family members living with them abroad.
ATTENTION: the elector temporarily abroad must submit a special request to the Italian municipality of residence BEFORE MAY 7 to receive the electoral package.
As an alternative to postal voting, AIRE registered voters can CHOOSE TO VOTE IN ITALY AT THEIR MUNICIPALITY OF ELECTORAL REGISTRATION, communicating their choice in writing to the Consulate no later than 10 days after the call for votes. Voters who choose to vote in Italy will receive from their respective Italian municipalities the postcard-notice for voting at polling stations in Italy. The choice to vote in Italy is valid only for the consultation for which it is done.
In any case the option MUST be received at the consular office no later than ten days after the call for votes, or by 10/04/2025. This communication may be written on simple paper and – to be valid – must contain the name, surname, date and place of birth, place of residence and signature of the voter, accompanied by a copy of an identity document of the declarant.

It is the responsibility of the electors to verify that the communication of option sent by post has been received in due time by their consular office. Requests received after the deadline above will NOT be considered valid.
The choice to vote in Italy can be subsequently REVOKED with a written communication to be sent or delivered to the consular office in the same manner and by the same date provided for the exercise of the option.
Please note that if you choose to return to Italy to vote, there is no reimbursement for travel expenses incurred, but only tariff concessions within the national territory according to the law.
Voters abroad vote in advance. All the material will be sent to their home address by 21 MAY.
