Dear fellow Italians and dear friends of Italy,
It is with great enthusiasm that I assume the position of Consul General of Italy in Jeddah at a time of remarkable dynamism for this region and for relations between Italy and Saudi Arabia.
The jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Italy in Jeddah holds a unique position. Overlooking the Red Sea and historically serving as a crossroads of exchanges, cultures and connections between continents, it is today at the heart of an extraordinary process of economic and social transformation. In this context, Italy is called upon to play an increasingly significant role, thanks to the excellence of its businesses, the expertise of its professionals, the quality of its higher education system, and the international prestige of its culture.
The mission of the Consulate General is not limited to ensuring efficient services for Italian citizens residing in the area. It also means accompanying and supporting an Italian presence that contributes every day to the development of strategic sectors such as infrastructure, energy, architecture, design, advanced education, scientific research, innovation and the cultural industries.
The Italian community in Saudi Arabia may be relatively small in numbers compared with other communities around the world, but it represents a human capital of extraordinary value. Professionals, entrepreneurs, researchers, academics, managers and technicians embody Italy on a daily basis through their work, contributing to strengthening the image of a modern, reliable and forward-looking Italy.
In recent years, relations between Italy and Saudi Arabia have experienced significant growth. Our objective will be to further consolidate this positive trend by fostering new opportunities for cooperation among institutions, universities, businesses and local communities, and by promoting an increasingly visible and integrated Italian presence within the local landscape.
I would like the Consulate General to be perceived not only as an administrative point of reference, but also as a platform connecting people, ideas and projects. A place open to dialogue, capable of enhancing the energy and potential of the Italian community and supporting its initiatives.
The promotion of the Italian language, culture, creativity, research and the expertise and craftsmanship that distinguish our country will continue to be one of the pillars of our action. In a region that is showing growing interest in Italy, we have the responsibility to transform this interest into lasting relationships, concrete partnerships and new opportunities for future generations.
With this spirit, I begin my mandate, placing at the service of the Italian community and of all friends of Italy my full commitment, together with that of the entire team of the Consulate General.
