Finally, on October 13th, in collaboration with the Fondazione Societa’ dei Concerti di Milano, the Consul General will be pleased to invite you to the concert-event “The Musical Strength of the Italian Language.” Featuring a program spanning from Claudio Monteverdi, Lucio Battisti, Franco Battiato, and Mina, all the way back to Puccini and Rossini, Maestro Luca Ciammarughi, concert pianist, radio host, piano historian, popularizer, and writer, accompanied by the talented soprano Ivanna Speranza, will lead us on an extraordinary journey through different styles, eras, and genres, all united by a common linguistic thread: Italian as the key to understanding musical thought.
The project, born from an original idea, aims to show the Jeddah audience another side of Italian: that of the language of European culture, including in the musical sphere. For centuries, Italian has been the lingua franca of music in Europe and around the world, not only because of the geographical origins of opera and modern instrumental writing, but also for its ability to blend verbal and musical expressiveness. The tempo indications, the dynamic expressions, the dance titles, even the emotions suggested in the scores—everything spoke and still speaks Italian.
