Bilateral Agreement between Italy and Saudi Arabia on Mutual Visa Exemption for Holders of Diplomatic, Special, or Service Passports

Starting from the 13th of August, the Bilateral Agreement between the Government of the Italian Republic and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia  allows the mutual exemption from short-stay visa requirements for holders of diplomatic, special, or service passports.

The Agreement, signed in Al Ula on January 26, 2025, allows eligible passport holders to enter and stay in the territory of the other country without a visa for up to 90 days within a six-month period, provided their passport is valid for at least six months.

This exemption applies exclusively to the national territories of Italy and Saudi Arabia. It does not extend to other Schengen Area countries. Saudi official passport holders intending to enter or transit through other Schengen States are advised to consult the relevant embassies or consulates of those countries in advance.

For stays exceeding 90 days, including assignments at Saudi diplomatic missions based in Italy, a visa remains mandatory. In such cases, applications must be submitted via a Verbal Note issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
