The Fast It portal (Farnesina Telematic Services for Italians Abroad) is a portal dedicated to Italian citizens residing abroad and is available throughout the Italian consular network.
The Fast It portal speeds up the processing of applications and can also be accessed from mobile phones and other mobile devices.
Through the portal, Italian citizens residing abroad can submit an application for AIRE registration, view their personal registry record, and request updates to their address.
1. I am having problems registering and/or accessing the Fast It portal. I entered an incorrect email address. How can I correct it?
If you do not have any active applications, you can change your email address yourself by following the path gear icon in the upper-right corner, next to your name → “Change email”.
2. I have forgotten my password for accessing the Fast It portal.
From the portal homepage, simply select “Recover password” and enter the email address used during registration. You will then receive an email with instructions for accessing your account.
3. I registered on the Fast It portal but did not receive the activation email.
It is important to check your “Spam” folder. If you have not received the email, log in to the Fast It portal using your email address and chosen password and request the activation email again by clicking “Resend code”, which will appear after logging in.
4. I selected the wrong country of residence. What should I do?
If you are still in the registration process and the account has not yet been created, you can easily change your country of residence in the section where your personal details and foreign residence information are entered.
If you realize after creating your account that you selected the wrong Consular Office, there is no need to worry. Follow the path “Consular Registry and AIRE → Report a change of residence → Go to the service”. The “Change Residence” section will appear, allowing you to select the correct country and place of residence.
If you have submitted an application to the wrong Consular Office, you can correct this by clicking on the application reference number on the main page and then clicking “Cancel application”. You can then proceed as described above to select the correct Consular Office.
5. I submitted a registration request but the system says that I am already registered.
The system does not allow two Fast It accounts to be registered using the same email address. It also does not allow two accounts with different email addresses but identical personal details to be associated with the same personal registry record.
If you already have another account, decide which one you wish to keep: delete the old account and keep the new one, or recover the old account by following the instructions for recovering previous accounts.
6. How can I check the status of my application?
The Online Consular Services portal allows you to receive timely updates on the status of applications submitted. Applications may have the following statuses:
- SUBMITTED: The procedure has been completed on the portal and the information has been sent to the Consulate. Applications in this status may be taken up by consular staff, who process them in the order in which they were received.
- CANCELLED BY USER: Applications may be cancelled by the user at any time until they have been taken up by a consular officer.
- BEING PROCESSED: A consular officer has taken charge of the application and will proceed with its processing.
- SUSPENDED: During the processing of the application, the Consulate has identified errors that can be corrected by the user. The applicant will receive a message with the relevant instructions and will have 30 days to resubmit the corrected and/or completed application.
- EXPIRED: The user did not complete the necessary steps within 30 days. The application has therefore automatically expired and can no longer be modified and/or submitted.
- SENT TO THE MUNICIPALITY: The Consulate has completed processing the application and sent the relevant notification to the municipality where the applicant is registered with AIRE. Confirmation of the registration is pending.
- REJECTED BY OPERATOR: During processing, the Consulate identified errors that cannot be corrected and therefore prevent the application from being completed. The applicant will receive a message explaining the reasons for the rejection.
- COMPLETED: Confirmation of registration by the municipality has also been recorded in the Consular Registry.
7. When I view my personal registry record through the FAST IT portal (under “View your personal registry record”), the status is shown as “at another office” / “untraceable”. How can I update my registration?
You must update your details by sending an email to anagrafe.gedda@esteri.it, explaining your situation so that the request can be processed manually by the Consulate.
Please attach the completed and signed registration form, a copy of a valid identity document or passport, and a copy of proof of address in the applicant’s name.
8. Which municipality am I registered with for AIRE purposes?
The AIRE municipality of registration is the municipality where you last resided in Italy.
If you have never lived in Italy, the relevant municipality is the one where your birth certificate was registered/transcribed.
9. When I view my personal registry record on FAST IT, my details appear to be up to date, but my registration status is shown as “not registered”.
The “not registered” status shown for AIRE registration may not correspond to your actual situation. This applies in particular to individuals who did not submit their AIRE registration application through the Fast It portal.
In other words, this status does not necessarily affect your registration with the Consulate.
For applicants who submit their application for recognition of Italian citizenship directly to this Consulate, it is not necessary to separately request AIRE registration, as registration is carried out automatically.
10. When I try to view my registration, I receive an error message stating that I must be an Italian citizen registered with AIRE to access the service. However, my citizenship procedure has already been completed and I am registered with this Consulate. What should I do?
This error means that the Fast It registration was not completed using the same personal details recorded in our system.
The association that allows you to view your personal registry record can only be completed when the information entered in Fast It matches the information contained in our Consular Registry.
For this reason, it is important to register on Fast It using the same name appearing on your Italian civil-status records or identity documents.
11. I am registered with FAST IT through another Consulate, but I now reside within the consular jurisdiction of Jeddah. How can I change my registration?
To make the change, you must not have any pending applications.
If this is the case, simply select the option “Report a change of residence” and change your country of residence and city.
The system will automatically transfer your Fast It account to the competent Consular Office.
You must continue completing the form by following the instructions provided by the portal and attaching the required documentation.
12. I am trying to attach all the required documents, but the files exceed the 1 MB limit. What should I do?
For example, it may be necessary to scan the documents in black and white to reduce the file size.
Always check the files after scanning the documents to make sure that all documents are clearly legible, especially signatures. If the documents are not legible, the application will be rejected.
All applications must be submitted in PDF format.
