Italy and Saudi Arabia

Italy and Saudi Arabia

The diplomatic relations between the Kingdom and Italy started 1932. Eighty years of friendship and good outcomes that were celebrated in Rome October 2013, with a great cultural event on Saudi culture, an important exhibition and many political dialogues and economic meetings. Commonality of feelings and cultures and complementary economies are the most prominent features of strength.
Italy is one of Saudi Arabia’s best trade partner in Europe, ranking first in the last years. In 2014, Italy’s exports to the Kingdom reached more than 18 billion SAR and mainly include industrial machinery, refined products and electrical equipment. Saudi Arabia’s exports to Italy are largely focused on oil & mineral resources and chemical products reaching an amount of 16 billion SAR. Our common objective is to attain even bigger figures and greater diversification in both directions. With this aim, in collaboration with the Embassy in Riyadh, the Consulate General is assisting delegations, organizing seminars and workshops to increase the awareness of the potential of Saudi-Italian economic ties in crucial sectors.
